“A setback is a setup for a great comeback.”

It’s one of my favorite things to touch base with Owners and Program Directors across the country just to hear how things are going, and more importantly, how our Corporate team can continue to provide value and help facilities reach their goals.

I recently spoke with Jeff Biehl, Program Director at Memorial Athletic Club in Houston, TX. Jeff opened his facility in December 2007. More than 10 years later, Jeff’s facility continues to thrive, even after facing a number of major setbacks.

Facing economic meltdown, natural disasters (most recently, Hurricane Harvey) and fierce competition, Memorial has made incredible comebacks. Their ongoing success is a result of their passion and commitment to continued improvement.

One of the ways they accomplish this is by making use of the resources in the exclusive Parisi Online Resource Center.

“The new strength training video section in Parisi University is phenomenal!” Jeff said in my recent conversation with him. “The information from Dr. Joe Camisa is so helpful. They don’t teach you these things in school unless you go for a specialization.”

Jeff himself has had lower back issues. To see Dr. Joe Camisa explain scientific ways to prevent this from happening in athletes provided tremendous value for him.

It’s crucial for all Parisi coaches to have a more effective strategy of teaching strength training fundamentals to their athletes. Many athlete injuries are occuring in weight rooms every day, yet most are unaware that this is happening. Training out of neutral spine and using poor posture – even slightly – can cause micro-traumas that contribute to major injuries in the future.

Jeff still has parents concerned about their athletes lifting weights. He admits that it does take some convincing, but he expresses the importance of safe strength training and learning the proper movements at a young age. With the information provided through Parisi University and the Strength Training series, Parisi coaches are able to train their athletes effectively and actually help prevent injuries from occurring.

Jeff plans on watching every video and completing the quizzes, not in hopes of winning the prize from the Parisi Strength Challenge, but to just make sure he’s coaching the right information. It’s for this reason that Jeff’s facility continues to thrive. The mentality of continuous improvement is one we hope to instill in all of our coaches.

Have you joined the Parisi Strength Challenge?

To support the development and continued education of Parisi Network, we created The Parisi Strength Challenge to see which of you will lead the pack when it comes to advancing your training knowledge.

Here’s how it works:

  • Each month for 3 months, we will select a section from the Strength Education in the Online Resource Center.
  • Participants will need to review all videos in the section and submit accompanying quizzes.
  • Participants that have completed all quizzes during the 3 month challenge will be entered to win a prize.

So what’s the prize?

The stakes are high! The randomly selected winner will receive a Hyperice Vyper 2 – the next generation of the world’s most powerful vibrating fitness roller!

Get started now!

The first series is Strength for Speed. Access the membership now by logging into your account. Once logged in follow these steps: Parisi University > Continued Training Education > Strength Training.
