step and reach

The Play: Step and Reach

The Purpose: A preparation drill to help athletes understand the touches and turns during the 5-10-5. Get low to the line and control the center of gravity while executing a 5-10-5 Drill

Pre-Snap Read: Begin with the beg leg straight and reach to the opposite leg with arm barred, head over knee, bent at the waist, back arm straight and hand down.

Performance: Repeat the set up in repetition for five yards, attempting to get as long as possible. A low-intensity drill, this is a great warm-up prior to the 5-10-5. This challenges the athlete from a stability standpoint and teaches technique.

Post-Drill Analysis: Were you getting as long as possible? Were you maintaining a low center of gravity? Did your core stay tight?
