Parisi coaches must have a big-picture point of view when building their classes. Regressions to the fundamentals regardless of an athlete’s age will always prove to be a safe and reliable way to improve any athlete’s deceleration skills and speed mechanics. Incorporating eccentric exercises and deceleration mechanics into speed and strength classes will lead to greater neural adaptation. This integration will create more ‘micro-traumas,’ forcing adaptation, recruiting more fast twitch muscle fibers and lead to more kinetic and elastic energy development. Over time, as your young athletes return week after week, they will experience an increase in their force producing capacity and total body strength.
